Scotland 2018 – Final Teaser
Time to lift the curtain and show what I’ve been up to these last few days. Obviously the night picture was at Travemünde harbor from aboard a ferry. I was hoping to catch some nice sunshine on the Baltic sea the next day, but this is what I got for my troubles:
Well, no boat trip lasts forever, so early Sunday morning after an exceptionally boring stay on a Finnlines ferry, where the biggest distraction is the visit to the on-board Sauna, I finally arrived in Vuosaari, Helsinki.
Oh right, the reason for taking the ferry. Well, here it is:
BMW R 1200 GS, 03/2011, 14000 km and now my new pride.
When I started thinking about the trip to Scotland I also wondered if I would be comfortable doing the 3000+ kilometers going to and around the Highlands and islands with my Drifter. And well, what can I say, I always fancied a nice and big Enduro, so the “Cow” was the only possible choice, really. 🙂 Oh my, and what a ride it is. I was afraid that the height and the different sitting position would make it uncomfortable, but on the contrary. I bought the bike near Augsburg in Germany and had to go all the way to Travemünde in one day, and it was easy going. With my red rocket I would have been sore and bone tired afterwards, nothing whatsoever with the Bavarian bomber.
Now that the means of travel is settled the hard part starts, planning the waypoints, sights and night stops, coordinate the ferries and on and on. Fun!
